Pulong sees bright prospects with telco's power equipment

DAVAO City Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte eyes better opportunity for the city as a telecommunication company builds its multibillion-dollar power feed equipment (PFE).

The PFE of Globe Telecom, which boasts of having a South East Asia-United States Cable System, is the first actual submarine cable with international capacity.

The said equipment is installed at Talomo Proper.

Top officials from Globe Telecom revealed they spent some P3 billion capital investment for the facility, which opened on August 10.

The submarine cable will directly connect the Philippines to the United States.

Globe noted that this means faster internet capability.

Councilor January Duterte, the chair of the Association of Barangay Captains, said the vice mayor thanked the telecommunications company and recognized the positive impacts of the new facility.

The wife of Vice Mayor Paolo Duterte quoted him as saying that the PFE would greatly benefit the Business Process Outsourcing industry and open more opportunities to Dabawenyos.

"Being a technology hub and one of the most competitive cities in terms of advancement, Davao appreciates the important contribution of your facility here to the economic growth of Davao," Duterte said.

"We know that this is a positive push when it comes to the expansion of more BPO spaces and the creation of employment and livelihood for the people."

Globe president and chief executive officer Ernest Cub said the PFE will be operational after six months.
