Retired cop shot dead

SUSPECTED members of the New People’s Army (NPA) killed on Tuesday, January 23, a retired police personnel in Tabuk, Kalinga province, a military official said Wednesday.

Lieutenant Colonel Isagani Nato, Northern Luzon Command public information officer, said around 10:50 a.m. of January 23, Johnny Adaol was shot to death by two members of the NPA hit squad in Sitio Luyucan, Barangay Lacnog, Tabuk, Kalinga while he was cleaning his project site.

He said the NPA criminals immediately fled the area. Authorities recovered four spent shells and two slugs of caliber .45 pistol.

Nato said the military and police are now conducting hot pursuit operations against the assailants. Authorities have yet to determine the motive of the perpetrators. (Third Anne Peralta-Malonzo)
