FOR the year 2010, the Bureau of Internal Revenue Cordillera Administrative Region promised to intensify its tax campaign this year.

Included in the tax campaign are information drives, establishment of a taxpayer service area, tax dissemination campaign and monitoring.

Regional Director Norberto Vitug said the BIR will intensify its tax campaign and close establishments which will not issue receipts.

He added BIR will close more establishments this year as part of its Oplan Kandado Program, if these establishments violate the law.

With regards to the elections, Vitug encouraged all politicians to withhold taxes of their suppliers of goods and services.

Vitug said the elections will help increase the collections this year.

"Of course, we expect an increase because there is increase in services and transactions will increase," Vitug said.
