Slightly rainy in today's fluvial procession

Vince Harlan A. Chua

PARTLY cloudy with a slight chance of rain.

This was the official forecast of the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) for today’s fluvial and solemn processions and during the Sinulog grand parade tomorrow.

While slight to moderate rainfall will be experienced in Cebu this weekend, it is not developing into anything worse, said Engr. Al Quiblat of Pagasa Mactan.

Quiblat said the low pressure area (LPA) spotted just about 425 kilometers east of Surigao City has a remote chance of developing into a tropical storm.

But he advised revelers to still bring their rain gear as the LPA can still bring light to moderate rains, especially during late hours.

Commander Dionelett Ampil, Philippine Coast Guard Cebu Station chief, said more than 50 vessel owners have already registered.

Last-minute registrations will not be allowed today, Ampil said.

He said unregistered boats are not allowed to enter the route to avoid accidents.
