STI, DLSU woodpushers post early lead

BACOLOD-BASED STI West Negros University and De La Salle University (DLSU) took early lead in the men and women divisions of the ongoing UniGames 2017 at the Negros Oriental Convention Center in Dumaguete City.

Stingers Joshua Panes, Zillard Eslabra, Ace Robert Cabras and Ryan Dale Ong blanked the team of St. Louis University-Baguio, 4-0 in Round 2 of the tournament.

The Mustangs of West Negros also defeated Holy Angels University in Round 1 by the score of 3-1 after Ong lost to Neil Siongco in Board 4.

Holy Angel University also drew Jose Maria College in Round 2.

In the women’s side, De La Salle swept Holy Angels, 4-0 behind Women IM Bernadette Galas, Mira Mirano, Ella Grace Moulic, and Rowelyn Joy Acedo.

Tournament director is Jose Dante Albao while chief arbiter is Leo Romitman. (HGD)
