SWU eyes 4th win in Batang Pinoy qualifiers

THE Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras will gun for their fourth straight win when they take on St. Theresa’s College in the resumption of the Batang Pinoy volleyball qualifiers in the Aznar Coliseum at 9 a.m.

SWU, which won the Cebu Schools Athletic Foundation Inc. title last year, leads the qualifiers with a perfect 3-0 record and is already assured of a spot in the semifinals. Winners get to represent Cebu in Batang Pinoy

On the other hand, STC is at 1-2.

The first game will have the winless University of Cebu against the University of San Jose-Recoletos, while the University of San Carlos (USC) also takes on UC in the third game. USJ-R and USC are tied at 1-1.

In the lone boys game, Pardo and Abellana will break their tie against each other. Both teams hold a 1-1 record and trail the undefeated USC (2-0).

Cebu City Sports Commission Chairman Ed Hayco, whose group is holding the qualifiers, said the champion will undergo a two-month training to prepare for the Regional Batang Pinoy tournament in Iloilo.
