Tigers face RG Mktg in UNAC President's Cup finals Thursday

THE Coca-Cola Tigers and RG Marketing will face each other Thursday in the best-of-three championship skirmish of the UNAC President's Cup Basketball Tournament 2010 after trouncing their respective rivals in the semi-final round last August 17, 2010 at the Negros Occidental Multi-Purpose Activity Center.

In the first game of the semi-final round last August 17, the Tigers survived the match by beating Dr. Pinoy/RFM in a close battle, 84-82.

The game was played so close until after the final buzzer. With 23 seconds left in the 4th quarter, both squads were tied at 82-all with the Tigers' having the ball possession. Alan Atienza made a jumper but missed with 10 seconds left however Rommel Esteves recovered the loose ball to score the winning lay-up.

Raqui Valdez topscored the Tigers with 20 points backed by Legarde with 16 points, Joey Pabalinas sunk in 12 points while Peter Reyes nailed down 8 points, Palabrica has 7 points, Grijaldo and Rommel Esteves contributed 5 points each.

The heroics of Dr. Pinoy/RFM's Agabon delivered 32 points with six triples went to naught. Villeran pumped in for 10 points, Britanico and Ureta pumped in for 9 and 8 points, respectively for the losing effort.

Meanwhile, in the second game Clarose Marketing, who topped the elimination round suffered a setback in the hand of No.4 RG Marketing. Jun Solinap went unstoppable in the game by pumping in 24 big points. Joma Lipa and Mong Aurino contributed 10 and 9 points, respectively for the win.

Clarose Marketing's James de los Reyes put up a gallant fight by scoring 22 points backed by Ed Dusaran with 12 points and Macayan drilling with 11 points.
