SOME 300 volunteers are expected to join in a tree planting activity, organized by the DXRD 711 Sonshine Radio, in Barangay Tamayong in Calinan District in Davao City slated on February 24, Saturday.

Sonshine Radio event coordinator Aileen Navarro said the event will be tagged as A Green Valentine Campaign, with a theme: "Be an Eco Warrior! Show your love for the Environment."

Navarro said that this is part of their public service program as their way of supporting the National Greening Program of the government.

She added that about 2,000 seedlings will be planted at Purok 3 in Barangay Tamayong.

Among the volunteers, Navarro said, are from Ateneo de Davao University, University of Mindanao, University of Southeastern Philippines, Holy Cross of Davao, and Jose Maria College.

The Task Force Davao, Eastern Mindanao Command, Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), City Environment and Natural Resources Office (Cenro) and some private companies will also join the event.

Navarro said there will be a registration fee for the event with free bus ride, souvenir shirt, meal and snack, and raffle stub. She added that the assembly area will be at Parking Area, SM City in Ecoland, at 6 a.m.
