MANILA – With Far Eastern University finishing the first round unscathed, three teams in the 73rd UAAP men’s basketball tournament will fight tooth and nail on Sunday to claim a share of second spot.

Adamson University, De La Salle and Ateneo de Manila are currently tied by holding a similar 4-2 (win-loss) card but only one or two of the said teams will grab the coveted second place honors after Sunday’s hostilities.

The Soaring Falcons will tackle a highly-charged Green Archers in the 2 p.m. match at the Philsports Arena in Pasig City with both teams coming off from wins last week.

Adamson defeated University of the East in a dominating fashion, 69-56, on Thursday while La Salle leveraged on its double-digit lead to upend University of Santo Tomas, 61-53, last Sunday.

Meantime, the favored Ateneo quintet has to slip past a hapless University of the East in the 4 p.m. main event.

This is the first meeting of the Blue Eagles and the Red Warriors since Game 3 of last year’s finals where Ateneo scored its second back-to-back championship crown since it joined the UAAP in 1978. (Virgil Lopez/Sunnex)
