Vet's office neuters 214 dogs, cats in Davao City

THE Davao City Veterinarian's Office (CVO) has neutered 214 dogs and cats in the city from January to September this year.

Of the total pets neutered, 36 are from Agdao, 58 from Toril, 37 from Tugbok, 29 from Calinan, 51 from Buhangin, and three from Bunawan.

CVO Animal Husbandry and Disease Prevention & Control head Dr. Noel Martin said the operation is part of its rabies control and prevention initiatives.

In terms of rabies vaccination, CVO vaccinated 104,731 pets in the same period.

CVO also urged all pet owners to have their pets immunized by a veterinarian against rabies.

Martin said the city is highlighting dog vaccination program as the most effective way to reduce the risks of disease and ensure safety of the pet owner.

A total of 150,000 pieces of vaccines worth P4.6 million were earlier requested by the CVO to supply a total of 150,000 estimated population of dogs and cats in the city.
