MANILA -- Poll watchdog Kontra Daya 2010 on Monday morning filed a complaint letter with the Commission on Elections (Comelec) pointing out the questionable groups who will participate in the party-list elections.

“We think that Comelec will not investigate party-list nominees that they will accredit or not, who will represent the marginalized sector, and those who are under represented. Government officials and politicians may opt to use the party-list groups just to obtain a government post,” said Kontra Daya convener Fr. Joe Dizon.

The group is particularly pertaining to organizations that are allied or supported by the administration under President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo.

The watchdog cited Batang Iwas Droga, which according to it, is a Pacgor-funded project.

Energy Secretary Angelo Reyes and presidential son Juan Miguel “Mikey” Arroyo meanwhile are among the early nominations that attracted negative comments from different individuals and groups.

Reyes is reportedly a nominee for 1-United Transport Koalisyon (Utak) and Arroyo for Ang Galing Party (AGP).(Kathrina Alvarez/Sunnex)
