A FEMALE foreigner believed to be in her 50s was discovered dead aboard a yacht that was found drifting by residents near the Laparan Island, Pangutaran, Sulu, the military said Monday, November 7.

Western Mindanao Command (Wesmincom) spokesperson Filemon Tan Jr. said, the cadaver with visible gunshot wounds, was discovered around 6 a.m., Sunday, November 6, aboard a yacht bearing a German flag with markings “Rock All.”

Tan said a shotgun was also recovered beside the cadaver. The yacht is now at the port of Bongao, Tawi-Tawi to be processed by the Scene of the Crime Operatives (Soco).

Tan said they are currently verifying the claim of Abu Sayyaf sub-leader Muamar Askali alias Abu Rami that a 70-year-old German national identified as Juegen Kantner was seized by them from a yacht off the waters of Tanjong Luuk Pisuk, Sabah.

He said they are also validating the veracity of reports that the cadaver discovered aboard the yacht was that of Sabina Wetch, the companion of Kantner.

“Alarming is that the body found was naked and had several contusions to the face and was possibly raped. PNP Soco will conduct autopsy to validate this possibility,” he added.

He said intelligence monitoring and investigations continue to establish the whereabouts of Kantner.
