TWO Kagay-anon jins brought home honors after winning in the 2017 Carlos Palanca Jr. National Taekwondo Championships last Sunday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium in Manila.

Fourteen-year-old Laizel Abucay won a gold medal in the featherweight junior girls category.

Abucay’s elder compatriot Purcia Ang, on the other hand, took the bronze in the flyweight junior girls category.

Both Abucay and the 16-year-old Ang are students of St. Mary’s School and Ben Ree Toledo’s Furious A's Taekwondo Academy.

They were considered among the city’s rising stars after emerging gold medalists in last year’s edition of the Batang Pinoy National Finals in Tagum City.
