Zambo University sets forum on federalism

THE government-owned Western Mindanao State University (WMSU) is hosting Multi-Sectoral Forum on Federalism on Friday, December 2, in Zamboanga City.

WMSU Political Science Department Chairman Henry Solomon said the forum will bring together the representatives of various local stakeholders for public discussion on the issue of federalism.

The participants would include the following sectors: business, indigenous people, academe, media, religious, women, youth, non-government and people’s organizations and other civil society organizations, police, military, and line agencies of the government.

He said the forum aims to disseminate information on the proposed constitutional change including but not limited to benefits, opportunities and thrusts, facilitate public discussion which is primordial to learning to all stakeholders of this city, draw opinions and position and propose plans of actions among stakeholders of Zamboanga developed from public discussion and provide critical inputs, and feedbacks on the proposed "change" in the government system for policy recommendation.

He said among the resource speakers are Emily Padilla, local government’s undersecretary for legislative liaison, public affairs and special concerns and Epimaco Densing III, local government’s assistant secretary for plans and programs. (Bong Garcia/Sunnex)
