IBA, Zambales -- The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) conferred its Suking Tindahan Seal to Zam Lee Sari-Sari Store in Iba town, the first recipient in the province of Zambales.

“We award this to existing privately-owned major sari-sari stores or cooperatives who are committed to sell basic necessities and prime commodities within or lower the suggested retail price (SRP),” DTI Provincial Director Leonila Baluyut said.

The store should carry at least 50 percent of the basic necessities and 50 percent of the prime commodities which are under the jurisdiction of DTI. It may also sell products not covered by SRP but must be at reasonable prices.

“To ensure sustainability, the DTI, in behalf of the Suking Tindahan, will continuously coordinate with manufacturers, suppliers, and wholesalers so they can get products at discounted prices, which the sellers may still offer at SRP,” Baluyut added.

DTI Suking Tindahan pursuant to Republic Act 7581, as amended by RA 10623, otherwise known as The Price Act.

The agency is mandated to ensure availability of supply at reasonableness of prices of basic necessities and prime commodities at all times. (PIA-3)
