Barber and salon sector remains optimistic amid pandemic

THE challenges caused by the coronavirus pandemic have been far-reaching, especially for sectors where physical contact is almost inevitable. How is the barber and beauty sector coping with this alternative normal?

“Health and safety are the cornerstones of this industry ever since. Thus, our people have always been prepared and trained to keep our clients and ourselves worry-free. Rest assured that precautionary steps are being followed meticulously to ensure everyone's peace of mind,” said Belleza Nail and Barber owner Martin Tolentino.

“People's collective desire to look and feel good is not so surprising. These factors are still central to sense of identity. Hence, marching back to shops after a common social trauma is one way to recover some normalcy,” he added.

Governments have allowed salons and barbershops to reopen around the world, including across Europe and in Southeast Asia, while emphasizing awareness for better health and safety standards. (PR)
