1,813 new Covid cases in Central Luzon on August 24

SOME 1,813 additional coronavirus cases have been recorded in Central Luzon on August 24, according to the latest data from the Department of Health.

This brought the total number of active cases in the region to 17,456, while the number of confirmed cases is at 179,787 with 158,111 recoveries. The number of deaths since the start of the pandemic has reached a total of 4,220 cases.

Central Luzon, which ranks third after the National Capital Regions and Calabarzon in the number of coronavirus infections, has recorded 22,631 new cases in the last 14 days alone.

Bulacan had recorded 9,542 new cases in the last 14 days, while Pampanga recorded 4,693 new cases.

At least 62 of the 177 facilities in the region are currently in critical status, with another 20 facilities at high risk of no longer being able to admit new patients.

The region’s bed occupancy rate is currently at 73.1 percent.

At least 310 people have died of Covid-19 in the region in the last 14 days. Most of the deaths have been recorded in Bulacan (92), Pampanga (77), Nueva Ecija (65), Zambales (34) and Tarlac (16).
