21 more modern jeepneys to ply Pampanga routes

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO - The Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board (LTFRB) in Central Luzon over the weekend announced that 21 more modern jeepneys will soon ply major routes in Pampanga.

These additional public utility vehicles are expected to provide the public, especially persons with disabilities an environment-friendly, safe, secure and comfortable travel to various points across the province.

The Kapampangan Transport Service Cooperative, Lubao Transport Service Cooperative and Guagua/Betis/Bacolor Transport Service Cooperative will launch the 21 air-conditioned public utility jeepneys (PUJs) at the City Transport Terminal Phase 2 in Barangay San Juan in the City of San Fernando on November 26, 2022.

The new modernized jeepneys will ply the routes of Angeles City – San Fernando via MacArthur Highway; City of San Fernando – San Isidro; Lubao – City of San Fernando via Bacolor; Lubao – Guagua; City of San Fernando – Sasmuan via Guagua; Guagua – SM City Pampanga/Robinsons Starmills via OG Road; and Guagua – SM City Pampanga/Robinsons Starmills via Bacolor.

The three transport service cooperatives, together with One Mexico Prime Transport Service Cooperative, first launched 12 modernized jeepneys in March 16 this year.

LTFRB Regional Director Nasrudin Talipasan said commuters would enjoy riding air-conditioned, spacious, safe and convenient modernized PUJs.

The gency will continue to provide technical assistance to the transport service cooperatives in the province, Talipasan said.

"The said cooperatives aim to expand the number of modern public vehicles in the province of Pampanga,” he said.

The LTFRB official thanked the transport coops for continuously supporting the government’s PUV modernization program.
