76 Pampanga villages flooded; 66,000 in evacuation centers

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- The Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) reported Monday, September 17, that 76 barangays in Pampanga are currently flooded due to rains brought by Typhoon Ompong.

The flooding has also raised the number of evacuees in Pampanga to 66,595 people. The provincial agency added that the flooding has affected 14,111 families.

The Pampanga River overflow has flooded six barangays in San Luis and another six in Sasmuan, while high tide and rain in Minalin has flooded three barangays.

Some 14 barangays in Masantol are also flooded along with nine barangays in Macabebe and 21 barangays in Candaba.

PDRRMO head Angie Blanco said they are continuously monitoring areas as floodwater from upper Luzon is expected to drain in Central Luzon in a couple of days.
