CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Some 99 barangays have been hit by flooding, with at least 154 families under evacuation after the series of monsoon rains in the province that was intensified by recent tropical cyclones Inday and Josie.

This was reported by the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction Management Office (PDRRMO) on Monday, July 23, during the emergency briefing convened by Governor Lilia Pineda at Max's Restaurant here and attended by municipal officials, mayors and disaster response stakeholders.

The PDRRMO said the 99 barangays have been flooded according to reports as early as Sunday, July 22.

Flooding was recorded at a maximum of one foot in some areas. Majority of the flooded areas include 23 barangays in Masantol town, 23 barangays in Macabebe and 15 barangays in Lubao.

The historically flooded town of Guagua also reported flooding in seven barangays, along with four barangays in Apalit town.

Some 154 families have been evacuated in six evacuation centers from the towns of Mexico, Apalit and Macabebe. The flooding in the province has affected some 15,000 people or some 64,000 individuals.

Vice Governor Dennis Pineda led the relief distribution to some 5,291 families in Masantol town on Saturday, July 21.

The younger Pineda personally distributed relief goods to residents of barangays Sapang Kawayan, Nigui, Sagrada, Bagang, Balibago, Alauli, Bebe Anac and Bebe Matua.

Those who received the relief good were 1,105 beneficiaries in Sapang Kawayan; 859 in Nigui; 500 in Sagrada; 727 in Bagang; 897 in Balibago; 538 in Alauli; 510 in Bebe Anac; and 155 in Bebe Matua.
