ANGELES CITY The city government here is set to stage an inter-barangay Reyna de las Flores or Queen of Flowers competition on May 21, 2023.

This first-ever Reyna de las Flores or Queen of Flowers will be open to Angeleña beauties aged 18 to 24 years. The winner will take home 100,000.

Locally-designed gowns will be featured during the traditional "Santacruzan" parade.

Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr., said the festival will be an avenue for Angeleños to showcase their prowess in designing local garments as well as promote the city's flower industry.

"We are one with our Christian brothers and sisters in offering beautiful flowers to the Blessed Virgin Mary," Lazatin said.

The working committee for the inter-barangay contest will be led by Lazatin’s Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel with the Angeles City Tourism Office headed by Anneleen Antonio-Sugui and organizer Rommel Guina.

Manuel said the 33 barangays may submit their participants’ forms to the City Tourism Office.
