ANGELES CITY The city government is set to open a new evacuation center in Barangay Mining on September 22, 2022.

This was revealed recently by Mayor Carmelo "Pogi" Lazatin Jr.

Lazatin's adviser IC Calaguas, Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel, Angeles City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer Rudy Simeon, Angeles City Economic Development and Investment Promotions Officer Irish Bonus-Llego, and Gender and Development Officer Mina Cabiles inspected the evacuation recently.

The facility has a kitchen, mess hall, lactating area, prayer room, and playing area for kids.

The center also houses a clinic in the center with readily available medicines.

Aside from this, the city also maintains an alternate evacuation sites -- the covered courts at Capaya 2, Sta. Trinidad, Lourdes North West, Amsic, and Anunas.

“Just in time for the rainy season, I was tasked by Mayor Lazatin to iron out the upcoming opening of the evacuation center in Barangay Mining,” Manuel said.

Manuel added that Lazatin wants to ensure the readiness of the center in the event of any emergencies and natural calamities.

Last July 2021, Simeon updated the old directional signages referring to the location of the city evacuation sites, since some of them are already faded or missing.

These signages serve as a guide to the public for the exact location of the main and alternate evacuation sites of Angeles City.

The evacuation center will be managed by the City Social Welfare and Development Office headed by Edna Duaso.
