HUNDREDS of policemen in the highly-urbanized Angeles City will be deployed to secure students during the opening of classes on June 3.

Police Colonel Narvin Mangune, city police director, has directed all station commanders to intensify police presence in university belts and school areas, said Police Captain Elaine Villasis, public information officer.

The police chiefs were also directed to provide mobile patrols on stand-by in different schools for the Oplan Balik Eskuwela, according to Villasis.

The Angeles City Traffic Management Unit will also deploy its personnel to manage and control vehicular traffic situations, the police captain added.

There are about 30 major primary, secondary, and tertiary schools and universities in the city.

Department of Education Secretary Leonor Briones earlier said that the coming school year will formally open on Monday and end on April 3, 2020.

She added that school calendar 2019-2020 will consist of 203 school days.

Briones said private schools may deviate from this school calendar but they may not start classes earlier than the first Monday of June and not later than the last day of August.
