THE City Government of Angeles headed by Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr. has ramped up its rescue of street people to ensure the safety and welfare of Angeleños.

On October 18, teams of the city-wide rescue operation and saturation drive supervised by Lazatin's Chief Adviser IC Calaguas and Executive Assistant IV Reina Manuel resumed the rescue operation, with deployed staff from the City Social Welfare and Development Office led by Edna Duaso, Gender and Development Office led by Mina Cabiles, Angeles City Tourism Auxiliary headed by Michael Lisin, Angeles City Police Office and the Angeles City Women and Children Protection Center.

As of Thursday, October 14, 160 individuals were already rescued and returned to their families around the city and in Porac town, Tarlac province, Mabalacat City and Nueva Ecija.

Out of the 160, about 43 were adults and 117 children.

On Monday, October 18, a total of 16 minors -- 14 boys and two girls -- were rescued along Barangays Cutcut, San Nicolas, and Sto. Rosario.

To date, four girls and two boys are in the custody centers of the City Government -- in the Home for the Girls and Home for the Boys.

Meanwhile, one homeless abandoned female elderly was turned over to the city's home for the aged, Bale Pusu.
