THE City Government of San Fernando held on July 14, 2021 the second day of the series of groundbreaking ceremonies for new school buildings, this time, at the Pampanga High School (PHS).

A day following the groundbreaking ceremony for a three-story, nine-classroom building at the San Jose Panlumacan Integrated School, the City marked the start of the construction of a four-story, 20-classroom building at the PHS.

Leading the rites were Mayor Edwin Santiago, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin, PHS Principal Lyn Esguerra, City Schools Division Superintendent Officer-in-Charge Dr. Imelda Macaspac, City Engineer Anele David, and several schools division officials and personnel.

The building will supplement the number of existing buildings of the school and, once the ban on face-to-face classes is lifted, will cater to more students coming from junior and senior high school levels.

Apart from the building, some 800 tables and chairs for the students and 80 tables for the teachers were also handed by the City Government to the school.

The City also awarded 40 pieces of laptops for the teachers, as part of the school’s distance learning and production activities even as the ban on face-to-face classes continues.

Through the utilization of the Special Education Fund, Santiago, along with the response on Covid-19 pandemic, is prioritizing the construction of more school buildings in the city.

As of Friday, July 16, the City is planning for the groundbreaking ceremonies of six more buildings. (PR)
