APALIT -- As part of the continuing program for early childhood development, the local government here is distributing school bags to thousands of children in various public schools in the town.

Mayor Peter Nucom, who leads the distribution of school bags, said that more than 3,000 kindergarten and day care students enrolled in different public schools and day care institutions already received the said bags.

On Wednesday, September 19, 500 kindergarten students in San Vicente Elementary School and Sampaga Elementary School, and 200 day care students in Barangay San Vicente received school bags, Nucom said.

“The local government aims to boost the morale of our school children by giving them decent materials that they can use every day in going to school that is why we visit and distribute these school bags to kindergarten and day care students here,” he said.

Nucom said that the school bags can fit the materials needed by students in school, as well as other personal belongings such as their food packs for their break times.

“As early as pre-elementary level, we wanted to show the children that the government is in full support to their education. We are hoping that this way, they will be encouraged to do their best in their education,” he said.

Nucom said that as of yesterday, they have already distributed at least 2,000 school bags, and are set to distribute the remaining school bags to the beneficiaries in the coming days.
