FIFTEEN parents of child laborers in Bacolor town received P13,000 worth of goods as part of the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) integrated livelihood program.

The program also aims to prevent forced child labor and protect the rights and dignity of the children.

Mayor Eduardo Datu helped facilitate the distribution. The assistance is expected to help boost the income condition of the beneficiaries amid the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

The parents are expected to set up a small grocery store from the goods given. They were also given a short training on how to manage a small business.

Datu said it is the initiative of DOLE to help parents economically as it is seen as a tool to help minimize if not eradicate the prevalence of child labor not only in the region but in the country as a whole.
