CITY OF SAN FERNANDO -- Various aquaculture products took center stage during the Agri-Aqua Trade Fair hosted by the Bureau of Fisheries and Aquatic Resources (BFAR)-Central Luzon.

BFAR-Central Luzon Director Wilfredo Cruz led the opening of the two-day trade fair on Thursday until Friday, November 8, at the Robinsons Starmills.

More than a dozen booths featuring aquaculture products such as seaweed noodles, gourmet tinapa, crab paste, and seaweed nachos welcomed guests at the said trade fair.

According to Cruz, the trade fair aims to showcase and promote the high-quality produce of local fisherfolk to a bigger market.

“We wanted to help our fisherfolks introduce their products to a wider market and reach other potential buyers. In this way, we can help them increase their sales,” he said.

Aside from the trade fair, the activity also featured a Technical Forum on Fisheries Investment Opportunities to educate aspiring business who wanted to invest to agriculture, particularly aquaculture.

A cook fest participated by students from different state universities and colleges in the region was also held on Friday, wherein dishes featuring aquaculture products were prepared and served.

“We do not only promote raw aquaculture products but even cooked dishes as well. This only shows that there is big potential for aquaculture products as long as a person is creative,” he said.
