Customs destroys fake cigarettes, machines

THE Bureau of Customs Port of Manila destroyed Wednesday, November 27, fake cigarettes and cigarette-making machines in Barangay Mitla, Porac town.

The seized items consist of five cigarette-making machines and 20 master cases of fake Mighty cigarette brands. They were condemned and brought to DiGma Waste Management Service Plant.

The disposition form was signed by Port of Manila District Collector Arsenia Ilagan and was carried out by agents of the Bureau of Customs led by Administrative Officer Daniel Antonio Wagwag.

Wagwag told reporters that the confiscated counterfeit cigarettes and fake cigarette-making machines were seized in warehouses located in Barangay Pambuan, Gapan Nueva Ecija and Mayon Street in Quezon City.

The fake cigarette-making machines were destroyed using a backhoe, while the counterfeit cigarettes were cut to little to pieces using a shredder.

Earlier the Bureau of Customs Port of Clark also destroyed millions of pesos worth of fake cigarette-making machines and counterfeit cigarettes at their office in Clark and at the DiGma Waste Management Service Plant in Porac, Pampanga. (Chris Navarro)
