THE Provincial Government of Pampanga, through the leadership of Governor Dennis Pineda, led the relief operations for the flooded coastal town of Masantol over the weekend.

Some 8,793 families have been given relief goods in 20 barangays of the town. Coastal villages have yet to receive relief goods due to logistical reasons.

Officers from the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office, Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office, at General Services Office manned the distribution efforts.

For almost three weeks now, most of the areas of Masantol have been under floodwater. In the latest report of the Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) of Pampanga, some 24 barangays of the town are still in floodwater.

The PDRRMO said the flooding has been due to incessant rains and high tide. Though the floodwater subsides during the afternoon, most flooded areas still experience an average of one to feet of floodwater.
