THIRTY mini dump trucks were turned-over by the Provincial Government of Pampanga to all barangays of the City of San Fernando.

Governor Lilia Pineda led the turn-over as part of the Capitol’s solid waste management program.

The City of San Fernando, it was learned, is the first-ever recipient of the barangay solid waste dump trucks.

Pineda told barangay officials to lead the drive in maintaining a clean environment. Pineda said waste segregation will always start at the grassroots level.

“The discipline in maintaining our environment is always in our hands,” she said.

Pineda likewise recognized the work of the Provincial Board and the Provincial

Environment and Natural Resources (PGenro) for their efforts in strengthening the programs of the Capitol on solid waste management.

Pineda assured that the Provincial Government will always give help and support for a healthier, cleaner and greener community.

Third District Board Member Rosve Henson also commended the hard work of the barangay officials in waste management.

He branded this as a “shared responsibility” which the barangay, local, provincial and national government should always perform.

Henson also asked Department of Natural Resources (DENR) Environmental Management Bureau (EMB) Regional Director Lormelyn Claudio to raise the province's concern of having a landfill facility.

He also suggested amendments to Republic Act 9003, that the DENR assigns where the landfill facility would be.

According to Henson, garbage from cities and provinces will be regulated.

Meanwhile, Mayor Edwin Santiago thanked the Provincial Government, even as he reminded the barangay officials to lead their constituents in waste management. (PR)
