Central Luzon Covid cases breach 58,000 mark overnight

CONFIRMED coronavirus cases in Central Luzon have reached 58,253, topping the previous 57,600 cases overnight, as 637 new cases have been added into the tally, according to the April 6 bulletin of the Department of Health (DOH).

The DOH bulletin stated that 74.6 percent or 43,485 cases have since recovered. Active cases have also increased to 13,752 or 23.6 percent of the total. Of the active cases, 13,626 are mild, while 40 display moderate symptoms. Some 49 cases are currently severe, while 19 are critical.

Active cases are mostly from Bulacan (7,515), Pampanga (2,241), Nueva Ecija (1,420), Tarlac (726), Angeles City (717) and Bataan (528). Aurora province has the lowest number of active cases at 146, along with Olongapo City with 108 active cases.

Fatality rate is highest in Pampanga at 2.36 percent and Olongapo City at 2.41 percent. Fatality rate for the whole region is at 1.74 percent.

Aurora province has the lowest fatality rate of 0.34 percent. Only one individual died of Covid-19 in Aurora since the start of the pandemic.
