A TOTAL of 20 Masantoleños suffering from different chronic diseases Tuesday, January 15, received financial assistance from the local government of Masantol.

Mayor Danilo Guintu, who personally distributed the cash grants, said that the local government allotted some P41,000 for the medication needs of the recipients, each receiving different amounts depending on the severity of their needs.

Guintu said that recipients, who are undergoing weekly dialysis treatment for their chronic kidney diseases, are in need of financial assistance to sustain medications and prolong their lives.

“We constantly extend aid to our kabalens diagnosed with different chronic diseases because we understand how expensive their treatment is, from the maintenance medicines to different medical procedures that need to be conducted on them regularly,” he disclosed.

Aside from financial assistance, Guintu said the local government also provides technical assistance to patients such as endorsement to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, among others.

In his speech, Guintu urged the patients to take better care of their health, create a strong support system and have strong faith as they surpass such trials in their lives.

“As much as possible, do not skip your medications. The local government is always open to help you as much as we can so don’t hesitate to seek help. And always pray, it can do wonders,” he said.
