THE Mabalacat City Government has warned the public against the use of firecrackers during Christmas.

"We would like to remind all Mabalaqueños who will celebrate the holidays to be cautious with the use of firecrackers," a social media post of the city government page said.

In particular, the local government unit (LGU) warned the youth against the use of firecrackers.

"The city government wishes everyone a joyous and safe celebration," the LGU said.

Earlier, the Department of Health (DOH) has launched its "Oplan Iwas Paputok 2019" to minimize firecracker-related incidents this holiday season.

According to DOH Secretary Franciso Duque III, the campaign aims to raise people’s awareness anew on the effects of firecrackers and fireworks in life and property and to encourage the public to use alternative noisemakers to prevent injuries due to firecrackers.
