THE City Government of San Fernando celebrated “Solo Parent’s Day” recently at the Heroes Hall.

More than 300 solo parents graced the celebration and experienced the fun and exciting activities prepared by the City Social Welfare and Development Office.

Anchored on the theme “Solo Parents: Sagisag ng Tyaga, Sipag at Tagumpay,” the event started with a seminar about the “Solo Parents Welfare Act of 2000”.

Solo parents were given a chance to share their experiences. They gave each other pieces of advice to overcome their trials.

Mayor Edwin “EdSa” Santiago also graced the celebration by giving words of encouragement to them. He lauded them for being strong enough in raising their children by themselves.

He added that the local government has various programs for them including medical assistance and educational assistance for their children.

(PR)
