A POLICE officer on Absence without Leave (Awol) and his companion, who was recently elected barangay councilor in a village in Bulacan province, were arrested in two separate drug busts on May 24.

The suspects were identified as Police Officer 1 Jorge Harrison Carin, 32, who was listed as a high-value target of Angeles City Police, and Doris Abraham, a newly elected councilor of Barangay Sampaloc, San Rafael, Bulacan.

Carin was arrested by joint operatives of Regional Drug Enforcement Unit-Central Luzon, Angeles City police, Regional Intelligence and Criminal Investigation and Detection team.

Confiscated from Carin were four sachets of shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride), a caliber .45 Amscor with bullets, aluminum foil, glass pipe, straw pipe, small glass tube, digital weighing scale and P1,000.

Abraham, on the other hand, yielded six heat-sealed transparent plastic sachets containing suspected shabu and marked money. (Ric Sapnu)
