THE Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) has completed a P4.9-million covered court inside San Antonio Elementary School in Barangay San Antonio, Guagua town, Pampanga.

Pampanga Second District Engineer Gregorio Audea Jr. said the 420-square-meter covered court can be turned into an outdoor classroom, a venue for school activities and can also be used as an evacuation center in the event of a disaster or calamity.

The DPWH added in a post that the facility is “now ready for use for safe in-person learning once the school has been given the go-signal to allow children to conduct physical classes.”

The construction of the multipurpose building at San Antonio Elementary School was funded under the 2021 General Appropriations Act.

"It has been our intention to expedite the completion of this project since we were aware that the school needs an open and well-ventilated space for the distribution and retrieval of learners' modules and other learning resources. Also, we need to de-densify our schools by increasing space, and a covered court is an example of a facility that can be utilized to facilitate learning activities,” Audea said.
