BARANGAY health workers and members of Magalang town's rescue unit participated in the Basic Life Support Training held at the Plaza Magalang over the weekend.

The Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) and Municipal Health Office conducted the training in coordination with the Philippine Red Cross.

Mayor Malu Lacson and Councilor Norman Lacson supervised the training which included first aid and CPR or cardiopulmonary resuscitation.

The local government said the first aid training is aimed at enhancing the skills of the rescue unit team and barangay health workers in terms of saving lives during disasters.

The mayor earlier vowed to intensify the rescue and response of the municipal government by establishing a 24/7 Command Center.

Lacson also pledged to distribute ambulances to the barangay.

The participants thanked the town officials and the provincial government, under the leadership of Governor Dennis Pineda for supporting the training project.
