CANDABA -- In a bid to further uplift the lives of Candabeños, the local government here is building a housing community in its Poblacion area.

Mayor Rene Maglanque said hundreds of housing units dedicated to marginalized Candabeños will be built in the government-owned lot in Barangay Pasig here.

The low-cost housing project will rise within the compound where Candaba Community Hospital, new municipal police station and the soon-to-open Don Honorio Ventura State University Candaba campus are also located.

"It will be a safe and flood-free community that is accessible to major establishments such as hospital, school and other businesses, and very soon the new extension of the municipal hall," he said.

Maglanque said the project is still in the planning stage and may be completed in the coming years.

Once completed, Candabeños who are currently residing in flood-prone and other risky areas may be relocated in the said community, the mayor furthered.

"Through the support of Congressman Rimpy Bondoc, Governor Dennis Pineda and my Sangguaniang Bayan members, we are and will slowly realize our dream of developing Candaba and providing a more liveable community to our people," he said.
