Immigration arrests German wanted for fraud

Reynaldo G. Navales

THE Bureau of Immigration (BI) arrested during the Holy Week a German national wanted in his country for fraud.

BI Commissioner Jaime Morente identified the alien as 47-year-old Alexander Herr, who also uses the alias Kai Michael Konig.

Herr attempted to extend his visa at the BI’s Makati office after arriving on March 19.

BI Makati Extension office Chief Maria Rhodora Abrazaldo reported that upon checking Herr’s documents, they discovered that he has an active watchlist.

Herr was the subject of a deportation case issued a day before his arrest, filed immediately after the BI received official communication from German authorities regarding his crimes.

Abrazaldo coordinated the case with the BI’s Fugitive Search Unit (FSU), who promptly effected the arrest.

The German national has a standing arrest warrant issued by the German Public Prosecutor’s Office in Darmstadt in 2015 for Attempted Fraud in 713 cases, in violation of the German Penal Code.

He was also the subject of an Interpol diffusion alert, informing Interpol member countries of his offenses.

Herr will be temporarily detained at the BI Warden Facility in Bicutan, Taguig pending his deportation. Once deported, he faces three years imprisonment in Germany for his crimes.
