STO. TOMAS -- Former Senator Jinggoy Estrada on Thursday, July 9, 2020, braved the threat of the coronavirus disease (Covid-19) to lend a helping hand to residents of this municipality.

Estrada, who was accompanied by Lubao Mayor Esmie Pineda, personally distributed on Thursday afternoon fresh milkfish (bangus) and various relief goods to a thousand residents of this town.

Policemen headed by Pampanga Police Provincial Director Colonel Jean Fajardo as well as barangay marshalls guarded the activity to ensure that social distancing was strictly observed.

According to Estrada, the food packs are aimed at assisting Tomasians whose livelihood was affected by the existing lockdown brought about by Covid-19.

"I understand the plight of thousands of Filipinos including Kapampangans due to this crisis that we are facing so I thought of sharing the bangus harvest from my mother, former Senator Loi Estrada's farm in Zambales to the people of Sto. Tomas," he said.

Estrada added that he will also visit other municipalities in the coming to extend the same food assistance to other Filipinos.

Mayor Gloria "Ninang" Ronquillo, for her part, expressed gratitude to Estrada for remembering Tomasians in this time of crisis.

"Among the many places that he may visit, Senator Estrada chose to help Sto. Tomas and we cannot be thankful enough for his kind thoughts and generosity," she said.
