KAPAMPANGAN Engr. Nomer Abel P. Canlas has been appointed as regional director of the Department of Public Works and Highways-National Capital Region (DPWH-NCR).

Outgoing regional director, now OIC-Assistant Secretary Eric A. Ayapana, formally handed over the responsibility of the Office to Regional Director to Canlas, who graciously accepted the challenging post, promising to continuously uplift the performance of DPWH-NCR.

DPWH executives were also present to witness the turnover. They include Senior Undersecretary Rafael C. Yabut, Undersecretary Roberto R. Bernardo, Undersecretary Emil K. Sadain, Undersecretary Maximo L. Carvajal, Assistant Secretary Wilfredo S. Mallari, Assistant Secretary Antonio V. Molano Jr. and Assistant Secretary Ador G. Canlas.

The new regional director was seasoned by years of experience not just in government but also in various professional organizations. From OIC-Assistant District Engineer to District Engineer of Pampanga 2nd District Engineering Office, Canlas was eventually promoted to serve the people of Caraga as its OIC-assistant regional director since January 22, 2018.

During the ceremony, Assistant Regional Director Juby B. Cordon, division chiefs, district engineers, and personnel of DPWH-NCR paid tribute to the service of the former regional director who successfully led the region for 11 months, from his assumption on December 11, 2020.

Carvajal closed the ceremony expressing his support to the new regional director and urged everyone to work more for the people of NCR.

Meanwhile, Canlas said he is looking forward to be working with the men and women of DPWH-NCR. (Chris Navarro)
