THIRD District Rep. Aurelio "Dong" Gonzales Jr. led the inauguration of the Urbano Dizon Bridge in Barangay Panipuan on Monday, June 24.

Gonzales was accompanied by Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) district engineer Almer Miranda, Barangay Captain Rudolfo Dizon, Vice Mayor Jimmy Lazatin and Councilor-elect Ariel Carreon.

The bridge costs some P13.5 million including slope protection on opposite sides of the structure.

Miranda said the bridge had been completed despite issues of the previous bridge's heritage structure status.

Miranda added that the bridge paves the way for better traffic as the new bridge now features two lanes.

"In the past, the bridge can only accommodate vehicles on a single lane. Now it is wider," Miranda said.

Gonzales said the bridge will enable better access to back door roads of the city. He said that the bridge is the second of its kind to be constructed in the barangay under his term.

Gonzales also had been instrumental in the construction of the barangay hall and covered court in this barangay.

"We have in the pipe line more infrastructure projects for the city which we aim to accomplish in the coming months," Gonzales added.

Lazatin also thanked Gonzales for his support to the city, adding that the new bridge will usher in new developments for the barangay.
