MABALACAT City Council is planning to pass an ordinance prohibiting the discrimination of Covid-19 medical and non-medical frontline workers.

Vice Mayor Gerarld Aquino said the City Council members already agreed to pass and enforce the anti-discriminatory act to protect the frontliners including nurses, medical staff, ambulance drivers and others.

The vice mayor said they have been receiving complaints regarding the treatment of people to the frontliners.

“Bakit daw sila na mismo ang humaharap sa sakuna ngayon and yet people treat them as parang sila ay infected din. As we all know, they are doing all necessary precaution. Bilang frontliners, alam naman nila and they are doing everything. They are using PPEs o yung tinatawag nilang personal protective equipment pero hindi sila madapuan ng virus na ito,” Aquino said.

The frontliners, who are consider as our heroes especially during this world health crisis, need all the support coming from the people, according to the city council head.

Aquino said private individuals donated PPEs, face masks, and other protective gears for distribution to the frontliners.

The city council is working on approval of additional budget in support of Mayor Cris Garbo’s relief operation to assist the constituents of Mabalacat in terms of food and medicines during the duration of the lockdown.

“In anticipation of the extension of the Enhanced Community Quaratine, what we like in the city council is to support the call of our city mayor. Kung ano po ang mabibili natin, kung mabibigyan po natin ng half cavan of rice each ang more or less 60,000 households in the city we will do that,” Aquino said.

“Rest assured that all your city government officials are here working for you. Keep safe and stay health always po,” he added.
