IN A bid to address the housing woes in her hometown, former Sasmuan mayor Catalina Bagasina who is seeking a political comeback, in partnership with Sapang Pari Integrated Development Corporation (SPIDC), awarded houses to deserving families on Monday, March 25.

Ten Sasmueño families, who were the first beneficiaries under SPDIC’s low-cost housing program, each received a one-story residential unit located in Barangay San Antonio in Sasmuan.

Bagasina said the beneficiaries were among the families who were displaced and were relocated after their old houses were allegedly reclaimed.

“I heard the concerns of the residents whose houses were reclaimed so I decided to buy lots from SPIDC and have the houses built so I can provide decent housing to the people,” Cabrera said.

Bagasina, a former partylist congresswoman, provincial board member, and mayor of Sasmuan town, said the 10 families comprise only the first batch of beneficiaries of the program.

She urged the new owners to take care of the houses awarded to them, and make it a sanctuary for their family.

“Make these houses your home. These are now yours so please take care of them and your own surroundings. You can ask free seedlings from the local government so you can grow your own plants and vegetables in your own backyard,” she reminded them.
