CLARK FREEPORT--To address traffic concerns and provide safer travel to the public, the North Luzon Expressway Corporation (NLEX) and the City of Meycauayan, Bulacan recently signed a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the traffic management of Meycauayan Interchange, and Libtong and Pandayan Exits.

Meycauayan Interchange is among the Top 10 Busiest Interchanges in NLEX-SCTEX, owing to the city’s vast number of manufacturing and industrial compounds that contribute to significant truck traffic.

Under the agreement, both parties will adopt and execute traffic management measures to improve the flow of vehicles at the interchange and exits. They will strictly enforce traffic rules and exercise security control within the NLEX jurisdiction. Also part of the deal is the conduct of monthly coordination meetings to discuss plans and programs that may affect the said areas.

NLEX Corporation and the City Government first entered into this MOA in July 2005. NLEX had implemented several enhancement projects in Meycauayan, which necessitate changes in the previous agreement.

In 2017, the tollway company undertook a traffic improvement program in the City, which included the construction of additional exits, the signalization of the east roundabout and the expansion of the southbound toll plaza.

Leading the signing were Meycauayan City Mayor Linabelle Villarica, Vice Mayor Josefina Violago, NLEX Corporation Chief Finance Officer Ma. Theresa Wells, Senior Vice President for Communication and Stakeholder Management Romulo Quimbo Jr., and Vice President for Asset Management Jennifer Jane Go.
