P6.9M worth of illegal drugs intercepted

A KILO of substance believed to be shabu (methamphetamine hydrochloride) was seized during a controlled delivery operation in Caloocan City on Wednesday evening, March 16, 2022.

The operation was launched by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA)-Central Luzon, Clark Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group, Bureau of Customs Port of Clark, PDEA-National Capital Region, and units of Philippine National Police.

The consignee was identified as Charlene Nworisa, a resident of Bagumbong Dulo, Caloocan City.

Authorities said the package containing shabu were concealed inside the cavity of toy figures.

"The package emanated from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia and arrived in Port of Clark last March 12, 2022. As a matter of procedure, it underwent the process of X-ray and field testing using Rigaku Progency that led to the discovery of 31 translucent plastic pouches containing white crystalline substance weighing more or less 1,000 grams that prompted us in launching controlled delivery operation," the PDEA said.

A charge for violation of section 4 (importation of dangerous drugs) of Republic Act 9165 will be filed against the claimant.
