KAPAMPANGANS on Sunday, July 15, huddled inside viewing areas organized by local politicians to witness the boxing match between Manny Pacquiao and Lucas Matthysse of Argentina during their WBA World welterweight title bout in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

Vice Governor Dennis Pineda hosted the free live viewing of the fight in Porac and Santa Rita town.

Local residents, mostly male spectators, witnessed the fight at the Jose Songco Lapid Sport and Civic Center in Porac town while the free viewing in Santa Rita town was held at the Municipal Covered Court.

Dozens of spectators witnessed the fight while it was noticeable that the attendance was not the usual large crowds.

In the past, multiple-free viewing locations in Pampanga were a staple of Pacquiao fights with traffic in major roads in Pampanga on a virtual stand still.

Pacquiao carded his 60th victory after stopping Argentina’s Lucas Matthysse in the seventh round to snatch the WBA regular welterweight title.

The 39-year-old senator proved to naysayers that you cannot count him out just yet as he downed the Argentinian champion in rounds three, five and seven.

Pacquiao’s record improved to 60 wins, 39 by knockouts, 7 losses, and 2 draws.
