Pampanga bags "Gawad Kalasag" award for 6 consecutive years

THE Provincial Government of Pampanga bagged the Best Provincial Disaster Risk and Reduction and Management Council in the recent Regional 21st Gawad Kalasag Awarding.

The province has won the award for six consecutive years now.

Governor Dennis “Delta” Pineda commended the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) in Central Luzon, led by Marlou Salazar, for their intensive efforts to search and promote exemplary practices in Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) and Humanitarian Assistance.

Angelina 'Angie' Blanco, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management officer, said the Gawad Kalasag truly brings the best in every implementing body on matters of DRRM.

"Working in the field of Disaster Management inculcated [in us] the true spirit of service and compassion for [our] fellowmen," she furthered.

She thanked the OCD for the recognition, and then said that it was not about the award, but to be able to provide service and protection for Kapampangans.

The PDRRM chief also mentioned the persistent support of Governor Pineda, Vice Governor Lilia “Nanay” Pineda, Sangguniang Panlalawigan members, and PDRRMC in terms of assuring the safety of the constituents, which is the primary concern of the administration.

Sindalan National Child Development Center, Jose B. Lingad Memorial Regional Hospital, Diosdado P. Macapagal Memorial Hospital, San Fernando Rescue and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council also received their respective awards. (PR)
