‘Paralaya’ wins MMFF best original theme song

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO Kapampangan song “Paralaya”, which was composed by artist and theater director Andy Alviz was hailed as this year’s Best Original Theme Song in the inaugural Summer Metro Manila Film Festival awards night on Tuesday.

The song is the original theme song for Brillante Mendoza-helmed "Apag" which also won Best Actress for one of its lead actress Gladys Reyes.

The song was composed by Alviz a couple of years ago.

It is part of a Kapampangan acoustic album of the same name produced by Arti.Sta Rita, a homegrown theater group which Alviz co-founded with Pampanga’s Best.

The original recording for the song was sung by Arti.Sta Rita singer Edward Bernabe while the guitar acoustics were performed by Hancel Lapid.
